On Thursday 22nd March 2018, Ihezie Foundation shipped a consignment of 60,000 educational books donated to the University of Benin in Nigeria.
The container is en route and is due to arrive at port on the 27th April 2018.
All of the books are being donated to The University of Benin as educational aid and these books will be made available to the students, teaching staff of the University of Benin and to the surrounding primary and secondary schools. Social inclusion and mobility are paramount to the work of Ihezie Foundation.
Ihezie Foundation intends for these books to begin having a positive and direct impact to the recipient students as soon as possible. The books have been carefully selected for their educational value and they will immensely enhance the educational experience of many thousands of students for years to come. The University of Benin is in the privileged position of being the first university in Africa to receive so many quality educational books. We excitedly look forward to hearing the stories of many successful students for whom these books will prove vital. It is with delight that Ihezie Foundation recognizes that this donation represents the first of its kind in size and magnitude anywhere in the world.
To celebrate the great occasion of this shipment, Ihezie Foundation welcomed Dr Loretta Ogboro-Okor, President, University of Benin Alumni Association, UK Branch, and other members of the University of Benin Alumni UK, to witness the donation and shipment.
The University of Benin will hold an Unveiling Ceremony and Distribution once the books have been received.
