About Us
We were established by our Founder, Mr Aloysius Ihezie, in 2015 who identified that millions of books from his business could be donated to schools in the UK and Africa, and his company is still a key donor to the programme today and he is Founding Chairman of the charity. To date we have donated over 1.1m books impacting on millions of pupils in over 1700 schools.
Sourcing
We source books through our established relationships with some of the leading book retailers in the UK, as well as universities, student groups and academic publishing houses, who donate excess book stock to us as part of their corporate social responsibility programmes.
Selection
Books are selected according to a set of strict quality guidelines – our interest is in literacy building books and educational text books that will be of value to students of all ages in our beneficiary communities. Volunteers play an active role in the selection process. Only around 60-70% of books donated make the high grade we expect for donating to schools.
Shipping
Books are sorted for shipping at our processing centre in Milton Keynes – we aim to donate around a million books to schools in the UK and Africa in the next year.
